Hydrogen Fuel Cells: The Potential We Don’t Know

Since the prices of fossil fuels are touching the sky, there has been a significant increase in the talks revolving around alternative fuels, mainly hydrogen fuel cells. Efficient utilization of hydrogen fuel cell electric generator homes is becoming a possibility today because of the innovations in technology.

Today, the media focuses on the already tapped potential of solar power, completely neglecting the exposure and possibility of other renewable resources. Reduced hydrogen prices and other technological advancements influence fuel cell energy's efficiency. Thus, as the energy expands, its residential power capability increases.

Using Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Fortunately, as more and more people know about the potential of hydrogen fuel cells, technologies like wind and solar gain more traction. Undoubtedly, these technologies are highly efficient, and while each addresses the generation of power, they do not address how to store it. Fuel cells have been long used in industrial settings and automobiles. However, now it is ready to be used for individual homes. To the benefit, using stored power helps reduce the load on the grid at peak times and helps store seasonally abundant energy when it is the most required.

One aspect to remember is that the individuals, mainly the homeowners, cannot DIY hydrogen fuel cells. The reason is that it is costly and sophisticated to create. Experts reveal that the estimated cost for a home fuel cell system ranges from around $35,000 to $100000 and even more.

We infer that the demand and desire for energy dependence on fuel cells will only increase. The need to make way for green and sustainable energy will increase the overall dependency on technology like fuel cells. Though experts reveal that homes' hydrogen fuel cell system is still at its initial stage, other developments around energy storage in fuel cells reflect that fuel cells may become popular over time.

Conclusion

Hydrogen fuel cells generate electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen atoms. This way, the hydrogen fuel cell system enables homeowners to generate electricity that is much more cost-efficient than the grid system, which is often used by the majority of the electric systems worldwide.
